I met my kids today, they're in kindergarten and 1st grade. They're sweet albeit a bit nosy, but still sweet. When I told Rico (one of the little kids) my name, him and a bunch of his other little friends were like "YOSHI?? You're a dinosaur??" which caused me to retort "No, my name is George" and Sabrina (the other counselor) to say "But that's a boy's name and your not a boy." (Her name was Bob by the way) it ended up with the little kids saying our names were a bunch of superheroes/villans/mario characters like Superman (me) or Batman (Sabrina the other counselor) and other shenanigans. They told me to fly -.-'' I jumped and they declared that wasn't flying. They were right. I still don't know if they got my name yet.
Me and the other counselors in my group made an effort to learn all their names and I think I've got them (huzzah, very proud of myself). We played games with the little kids in the playground like tag and red light green light. It brought back memories of when I was their age (how old does that sound?). It was sunny, so everyone ended up sitting underneath the slides by the end of it for shade. Everyone was in their own shade bubbles. Played handgames with the little girls with Nefi (another counselor) underneath the slides, that slide is too cramped, they thought it was fun. I made friends with the conselors working with me, and one of them I knew somewhat from orientation beforehand. It was pretty easy talking to both of them. I even went to the pool with one of them afterwards (Nefi). It was fun except I got dunked alot by her friends and got cold towards the end (around 2-3 hours later)...so I went to sit by myself to dry off which probaably seemed antisocial but my fingers were getting a bit numb. Honestly I wasn't trying to be anti-social when I got out of the pool but I felt more comfortable people watching while drying off. I figure I'm better with one to two people my age rather than a whole bunch unless I know them pretty well. Since other than the dunking I didn't know what to say to her friends since they were talking about other things/people that they knew so I couldn't really get in their conversation at times. I still had a good time though. I like the little kids and my schedule is from 10-3 so my hours are pretty good too.
Well that was my day. More happened but I feel like I would write too much and it'd make it too rambly/long.
