1. What ideas or feelings do you find yourself focusing on these days?
I find myself focusing on things to do during the summer. I feel like if I don't do anything, I'd never get to it. Like starting and leaving it off. I'm not sure if I'm a naturally productive person, but I usually need to plan stuff to get to it. I want to cross off things from my to do list. I want to bike and learn to knit or crochet. So far I can cross off eating at the buffet in the bellagio, I've wanted to go there since I found out about it and the food was really great. I feel like I'm drifting from project to project.
. Its weird that school deeply structures your life for 9.5 months - from 7am-3:10pm you're dealing with school and beyond that, with homework and projects. Then all of a sudden you're in summer vacation and have no institutional structure. How does the contrast feel to you? Does family/capitalist-labor/etc conquer the area that the school has temporarily abdicated, leaving you no freer than before or do you have more freedom? Have you been enjoying your time? Are there aspects of school that you miss? Are there aspects of school that you're particularly glad to have a break from? How are you filling/wasting/enjoying the extra time you now have?
When school first got out, my reaction was to try to fill the summer with as much activities as possible. I got a job for the summer and my first day's on monday, so I guess I'm back to having a schedule pretty soon. I wanted to volunteer at a senior center which I'll do soon, and cut back on the weekends...except I know I'll have to do laundry then. So I've filled, wasted, and really enjoyed sometimes. Past few days I've wasted/enjoyed since I've been to Vegas and did alot of touristing. Alot of different things are happening but it seems like when they're happening not that much has happened and then when I reflect I think oh, that is something.
3. How many hours a week would you be willing to put towards reading an easyish novel that we were all reading? How many hours a week would you be willing to put towards reading a hardish essay that we were all reading? How many combined?
Easyish:2 Hardish:4-8 my definition of easyish and hardish is my comprehension of it rather than the length since easy books can be long too. But maybe it has to do with your style of reading, since a book that suits your style would be easier for you to read.
. What is a small - 2-7 hour long - adventure that you'd enjoy doing with the rest of us? For instance - make a short film, go to Rockaway Beach, walk on the Appalachian Trail. see a strange movie?
Biking would be cool! Hiking too. I would say camping but that's probably longer than 7 hours. Anything outdoorsy would be fun.
5. Will you be able to meet in the City for the whole summer or do you have a planned excursion for part of the summer - if so, when?
I have classes in addition to a summer job so I can meet in the City for the whole summer at later times I don't think I have any more planned excursions unless its something my mom haven't told me yet.
6. What else would you be interested to address or read other peoples' thoughts on?
What it means to be human...because a Star Trek episode I watched says it means always wanting to be more than you are and learning and growing.
7. Learning other people's mindset after summer would be interesting to find out since people do seem to change over the summer or come back somewhat different than before.
