Went to the bronx zoo today with groups b and c. Went to work early today, 7:45. I feel bad not being with my group today, even though we were assigned to the other group because there would be none of the junior staff from group a with the kids today. We were in the cafeteria and were sitting from our kids and when we got up to go, I said bye to the kids from my group. They looked surprised and confused that we were leaving them. I wouldn't be going to work tommorow since we get the day off after the trip. I wonder if they understood we were only going for one day. Their faces were just watching us as we left so that was pretty sad. The trip in itself was fun. The animals got really close. One of the staff members wondered if they should be in the wild instead and I wondered myself, whether it was better to be in the wild with predators or in the zoo without. I wondered if we were captured by aliens and put in a zoo to be watched like that how we would feel. Would we mind if we grew up in a zoo from birth or would we just accept it?
Well it was pretty cool all in all. I saw a vulture eat a dead rat and it pulled at the guts. The kids were engrossed with the scene alot of them said "ew" or "that's cool". In the past when I went to zoos I wasn't that interested, but the animals were closer today. I could see the tigers and cubs and a baboon came so close that it pressed its face against the window and licked it. I missed my group of kids anyway..What I find interesting is that all the counsolors said that they liked their kids. The group I was in too. I wondered if I was placed in this group instead would I have bonded in the same way with these kids instead. I think I might have, but I like the ones I have from my group, I think they're the best group, I'm biased but I really do. All the counsolors seem to bond with their kids and enjoy the job. Well all the ones I've talked to so far which was the ones in my group and the ones who's group I am in today. I talked to one of the counsolors on the train ride about Camp College since they didn't go and were interested. They're part of the Prep classes too since they got the job through the same program. They were looking forward to going to go on the next Camp College trip.
